The US Secretary of State emphasized that Russia “will find it difficult to sustain its aggression in Ukraine without China’s support.”
The United States has called on China to stop cooperating with the Russian Federation in the military field, as Washington may tighten sanctions against Beijing. This is what US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said after meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, NBC News reported.
The main purpose of Blinken’s visit was to try to warn China not to support Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The Secretary of State said during his visit that China supplies the Russian Federation with dual-use goods, such as machine tools and microelectronics, making it the largest supplier to Russia’s defense industrial base.
“It will be difficult for Russia to support its invasion of Ukraine without China’s support,” Blinken said.
He also acknowledged the possibility of expanding US sanctions against China to help Russia.
“In the case of the United States, we have already imposed sanctions against more than a hundred Chinese organizations, export controls, etc. And we are ready to act, to take additional measures, and I made it very clear in my meeting today,” added the American official.
Let’s recall that earlier the United States discussed the imposition of sanctions against Chinese banks for their support of the aggressor country Russia.
