Washington is ready to tighten sanctions against Beijing if it continues to support Moscow. United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this after a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, NBC News reports.
It is noted that Blinken arrived in China to dissuade the Chinese authorities from further cooperation with Russia. During the visit, the State Secretary said that China supplies the aggressor country with dual-use goods, in particular machine tools and microelectronics. It is the People’s Republic of China that is now the largest supplier to Russia’s defense industrial base. Without China’s support, Blinken said Russia would have a hard time sustaining its invasion of Ukraine.
In the case of the United States, we have already imposed sanctions on more than a hundred Chinese organizations, export controls, etc. And we are fully ready to act, to take additional measures, and I stated this very clearly at my meetings today,” the Secretary of State noted.
Let us recall that in April, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, in a conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, supported holding a peace summit on Ukraine, but with the participation of Russia.
