Analysts note that the invaders outside of Chasovoy Yar are now intensifying efforts to capture the city.
The conquerors will try to advance in the direction of Avdiivka, as this area provides more opportunities for faster achievement of tactical victories. In particular, Russian troops here remain about 30 kilometers from their stated operational objective in Pokrovsk and about 17 kilometers from the relatively large villages east of Pokrovsk. This is stated in the ISW report.
Russian forces now on the eastern edge of Chasovoy Yar will intensify efforts to capture the city from March 2024. They are indeed threatening to capture the city, but they are unlikely to do so quickly.
The offensive operation to capture Chasovoy Yar opens up immediate prospects for Russian forces to make significant operational progress, ISW believes. According to analysts, taking the city will allow them to launch additional operations against cities that form a significant Ukrainian defense belt in the Donetsk region.
Experts believe that Russian troops are trying to capture more territory before US security assistance arrives, which will significantly improve Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the coming weeks.
The Russians will try to advance towards Avdiivka, as this area offers more opportunities for faster tactical gains, despite the dubious operational value of these gains.
We previously wrote that Russian troops continue to try to capture Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region, destroying the city in the process.
