UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called on the new Haitian authorities to assign an international security mission to the islands as soon as possible. Reuters wrote this on Thursday, April 25.
“The Secretary-General called on all Member States to ensure the functioning of the multinational security mission and give it the financial and logistical support it needs to succeed,” said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.
According to him, the UN Secretary-General also recommended speeding up the implementation of the transitional arrangement for the new Haitian government to reduce the influence of gangs on the islands.
