Russia and China have significantly worsened relations since Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine began in February 2022.
At the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin said he plans to leave for China in May. The Russian propaganda agency Interfax reported this on Thursday, April 25.
According to the agency, one of the congress participants in his speech recalled Putin’s preparations for his visit to China and asked to give a book to Chinese leader Xi Jinping during this trip.
“I am planning a visit in May, I will definitely bring this second book and pass it on,” Putin said.
Earlier, Reuters wrote about Putin’s visit to Beijing. It was noted then that Putin’s upcoming visit could be the first trip abroad by the head of the Kremlin regime during his new presidential term. The official inauguration of the Russian dictator, as Reuters writes, will take place on May 7.
Let’s remember that the United States is creating sanctions aimed at cutting off individual Chinese banks from the global financial system. Washington hopes this will curb Beijing’s financial support for Russian military production.
