Law enforcement officials documented the subversive activities of the rector of the Svyatogorsk Lavra of the UOC MP, Metropolitan Arseny. He gave the location of the Defense Forces checkpoints in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region to the Russian invaders, the SBU reported on Wednesday, April 24.
It is indicated that the priest announced the positions of the Ukrainian military during the liturgy.
“The vicar, using a video recording, told the parishioners the addresses of the checkpoints of the Ukrainian troops, then, this video was published on the website of the Lavra and on the local channel group of Telegram So, the cleric tried to leak to the aggressor the locations of Ukrainian checkpoints in the front-line area,” the message said.
According to the investigation, the metropolitan, even before the start of a large-scale war, disclosed the Kremlin’s narratives about the war in Ukraine, which was confirmed by repeated interviews of the vicar, in which he called the armed aggression of Russia as a “civil conflict.”
The Metropolitan was notified of suspicion under the article on dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the possibility of their identification on the ground (Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to 8 years in prison. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is decided.
Earlier, the SBU exposed the rector of the UOC-MP church in the Khmelnytsky region, who praised Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the faithful.
