The President thanked all Americans who continue to support Ukraine and recognized that the historic significance of this bill goes beyond politics.
President Vladimir Zelensky thanked the US Senate for passing a bill providing nearly $61 billion in aid to Ukraine. The president’s corresponding message came out immediately upon learning of the Senate’s decision.
“I thank Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for their strong leadership in advancing this bipartisan legislation, as well as all US Senators from both parties who voted for it,” Zelensky wrote.
He emphasized that this vote strengthens America’s role “as a beacon of democracy and leader of the free world.”
Zelensky also thanked all Americans who continue to support Ukraine and recognized that the historical significance of this bill goes beyond politics.
“I also appreciate President Biden’s support and look forward to the imminent signing of the bill and the delivery of the next military aid package, which will be consistent with the determination I have always felt in our negotiations,” Zelensky stressed .
He noted that Ukraine’s long-range capabilities, artillery and air defense are very important tools for the rapid restoration of a just world.
Let’s remember that tonight the US Senate finally voted for aid to Ukraine. Before this, on April 20, the US House of Representatives passed a bill to provide nearly $61 billion in aid to Ukraine. Most of this huge amount will go to military support.
