NATO exercise Steadfast Defender 24 will send 16,000 British troops to Poland in May.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said his country would send Typhoon fighter jets to Poland to protect Polish airspace. The head of the British government said this on Tuesday, April 23, at a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Rmf24 reports.
Sunak noted that between Poland and the UK “there is a great bond that strengthens security in this situation.” He also said that Poland spends the most on security among all NATO allies.
The head of the British government also assured that Great Britain will not forget that Polish pilots saved British lives while fighting in British skies.
According to Sunak, 16,000 British soldiers will be sent to Poland as part of the NATO exercise Steadfast Defender 24, which will last until the end of May.
The British prime minister said that the heads of government of both countries also spoke, among other things, about the use of blocked Russian assets, migration pressure on the Polish border -Belarus and energy cooperation.
We remind you that on Tuesday Sunak announced a record package of military aid to Ukraine. Among other things, it will include more than 1,600 strike and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as additional Storm Shadow missiles.
