The Republican leader in the US Senate accused Carlson and Trump of accepting aid to Ukraine with a delay of several months.
Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, in a press conference on Tuesday, April 23, named former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former President Donald Trump as the culprits behind the months-long delay in aid to Ukraine. McConnell’s words were quoted by NBC News.
“I believe that the demonization of Ukraine started with Tucker Carlson, who in my opinion went where he should have been when he interviewed Vladimir Putin,” McConnell said, referring to Carlson’s two-hour interview with Putin in February.
The Senate Republican leader emphasized that Carlson has a huge audience, and because of that, he has convinced many rank-and-file Republicans that maybe helping Ukraine was a mistake.
McConnell also examined Trump’s role in delaying the easing process.
“I think the former president has mixed views on helping Ukraine,” he said.
“Our presidential candidate doesn’t seem to want us to do anything,” McConnell said, adding that it took months to get over it.
Let’s remember that in February, the American media wrote that Carlson’s interview with Putin was directed against US aid to Ukraine.
