In addition to vehicles designed for firefighting, the British transferred 2,800 pieces of equipment (ladders, boats and breathing apparatus) to Ukraine.
The UK has sent the largest convoy of fire and rescue equipment to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the British publication The Telegraph.
It was learned that the convoy consisted of 33 vehicles, including 20 fire engines. In addition to vehicles designed for firefighting, the British transferred 2,800 pieces of equipment (ladders, boats and breathing apparatus) to Ukraine.
Great Britain’s Junior Minister for Crime, Police and Fire Services Chris Philp in his column for The Telegraph said the equipment was essential for Ukraine’s “brave firefighters”. He also emphasized that 91 Ukrainian rescuers died while rescuing victims of Russian attacks and bombings, and expressed admiration for the work of Ukrainian firefighters.
“Putin is deliberately attacking civilians and public buildings in Ukraine, resulting in unprecedented strain on the fire and rescue services responding to these attacks The fact that the fire and rescue services of “Ukraine has responded to so many incidents while suffering great personal losses in composition. And technology is simply amazing,” he emphasized.
The publication also noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 396 fire stations and about 1,700 fire trucks have been destroyed, about 350 firefighters have been injured, and five are in Russian captivity.
“Must Ukraine win this war, we cannot hesitate one iota in our support. No matter how big or how small the actions we take, we will do everything to help Ukraine on the path to victory, like of all other civilized nations”, noted Philp.
The publication added that since the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Britain has previously sent six road and one rail aid shipment to the Ukrainians.
It was previously reported that Kyiv received 30 mobile boiler houses from USAID.
