A trial in the case is scheduled for April 26 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Britain has officially accused two people of spying for China. They will appear in court this week, the BBC reports.
Christopher Berry, 32, and Christopher Cash, 29, were charged under the Official Secrets Act. They allegedly provided articles, notes, documents or information to a foreign state.
The trial is scheduled for April 26 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
London Police’s counter-terrorism unit described the charge as the result of an “extremely complex investigation”. They urged to refrain from further comments and speculation while the case is being considered by the court.
The men were detained on March 13, 2023, and later released on bail. The defendants in the case have likely been producing documents for several years.
Let’s remember that intelligence officers from Russia and China are increasingly posing as journalists or NGO workers to collect information, and the recruitment of unofficial agents is growing.
