The first bullet within the framework of the Czech initiative will be transferred to Kyiv in May-June, believes the EU’s chief diplomat.
The first delivery of artillery ammunition obtained as part of the Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine may arrive in late May or early June. The EU’s chief diplomat Josep Borrell announced this following a meeting with the ministers of foreign affairs and defense of the member states, in which the Ukrainian ministers also participated remotely.
“The first deliveries may be in late May – early June. And many countries have expressed their readiness to participate in the German initiative to coordinate and promote efforts to strengthen Ukrainian air defense,” said Josep Borrell.
According to him, several countries have expressed their willingness to make specific contributions in both areas.
“These tasks – more air defense and more 155 mm shells – remain our priority,” concluded the diplomat.
Earlier, Josep Borrell said he expected “bold decisions” on military aid to Ukraine from a joint meeting of the European Union’s foreign and defense ministers.
