The topic of putting nuclear weapons in the country “has been the subject of Polish-American negotiations for some time,” Andrzej Duda said.
The Polish authorities are ready to put nuclear weapons on the territory of their country. Polish President Andrzej Duda said this in an interview with Fakt, published on Monday, April 22.
“If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons as part of the joint use of nuclear weapons also on our territory to strengthen the security of the eastern part of NATO, we are ready for it, we are an ally in the North Atlantic Alliance, and we also have obligations in this regard, that is, We’ll just implement a common policy,” said the Polish leader.
Duda also confirmed that the topic of putting nuclear weapons in the country “has been a topic of Polish-American negotiations for some time.”
“I will admit that when I was asked about it, I expressed our readiness (to lay down arms, – ed.). Russia is increasingly militarizing the Koenigsberg district. It recently transferred its nuclear weapons to Belarus,” he recalled.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov immediately responded to Duda’s words about nuclear weapons.
“Of course, our military will assess the situation if such plans are implemented and in any case will take all necessary, all necessary retaliatory measures to guarantee our security,” he said.
Let’s remember that last year in Poland they started talking about deploying nuclear weapons. Then-Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Poland wanted to join a nuclear exchange program between NATO countries.
