In exchange for a Ukrainian paramedic, Kyiv handed over “someone significant” to Moscow, the OP’s adviser said, but did not specify who he was talking about.
The decision to release Ukrainian paramedic Yulia Paevskaya (Taira) from captivity was made at the highest level. Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the Office of the President, spoke about it in an interview with Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin on Tuesday, June 21st.
According to him, there is a possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally addressed this issue.
“This decision was made at the highest level. Putin in general, according to my feelings and some information, personally deals with each prisoner,” the adviser said.
Arestovich noted that in exchange for Taira, the Ukrainian side handed over to the Russian “someone significant.” At the same time, he did not confirm or deny Russian media information that he was “the son of a friend of Kadyrov.”
“We have collected a sufficient number of iconics and the very serious exchange has been successful for them,” the OP representative said.
Recall, on June 17, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Taira had returned home after three months in captivity in Russia.
Two days later, the released paramedic recorded a video in which he thanked the head of state and expressed confidence that all the arrested Ukrainians would be released.
