Speaker Johnson reminded that the flags of other states are prohibited in the House, but his remarks were drowned out by cries of “Glory to Ukraine!”

After successfully voting for the aid package for Ukraine in the US House of Representatives, the congressmen applauded and shouted “Glory to Ukraine.” This was reported by the American publication Independent.

“The successful passage of the law prompted cheering and waving of Ukrainian flags in the House of Representatives, as well as chants in Ukrainian of “Glory to Ukraine!” Angry Conservatives slammed the their colleagues after the vote, one of them said into a microphone: “Take down those flags!”, the publication wrote.

Ukrainian people’s representative Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who was in the guests’ box, described what was happening:

“During the voting of our package, about two minutes from the beginning, the whole hall was filled with congressmen holding yellow-blue flags and started chanting “Ukraine” very loudly.

The Speaker tried to make the remark several times that according to the rules of the House it is forbidden to remove the flags of countries other than the United States from the hall … but it did not seem to stop anyone. .”

We remind you that on Saturday the US Congress passed the long-awaited bill providing almost $61 billion in aid to Ukraine, as well as aid bills to Taiwan and Israel.

The Senate must approve the documents on Tuesday, then send them to US President Joe Biden for signature.
