In the schedule of the House of Representatives, the start of voting for aid to Ukraine is set at 13.00 pm (20.00 Kyiv time).
The House of Representatives will vote on international aid, particularly for Ukraine. Exactly six months after the White House submitted its request.
Of the 137 amendments made to the bill, the rules committee missed only four. They concern the reduction of assistance or the exclusion of certain points from the text. However, Voice of America correspondent Ekaterina Lisunova reported that these amendments have little chance of passing.
Previous votes indicate that there should have been enough votes to support Ukraine. Despite a vocal minority of opponents of the bill, a majority of members of Congress from both parties support the relief. The Ukrainian embassy says it remains cautiously optimistic.
The Senate announced that they would remain working over the weekend so that if the aid is approved in the House of Representatives, they would not hesitate to vote on their part and pass the document for signature by President Joe Biden.
Biden himself said earlier that he supports Speaker Johnson’s initiative, and as soon as the adopted bill reaches his desk, he will immediately sign it.
The Pentagon also hopes for a speedy vote.
If assistance is approved this weekend, they are preparing to quickly send Kyiv a package of weapons from their own warehouses, which may include air defense and artillery systems. Help will be delivered in a matter of days.
