Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda thanked Poland and, especially, his Polish colleagues for their cooperation in the search for the suspects.
Two suspects in the attack in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius on an ally of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Leonid Volkov, have been detained in Poland. This is what Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said, Lithuanian media LRT reports.
“I thank Poland for the good work they have done, I talked to the President of Poland about it and I thanked them for their good cooperation,” he said.
The head of state also thanked the Lithuanian criminal intelligence specialists who carried out the preliminary work and preparations.
“In the near future, after the completion of procedural actions, these people will be transferred to Lithuania,” added the Lithuanian leader, without specifying the time.
Nauseda also did not say who was behind the attack on Volkov.
We remind you that an unknown person attacked an ally of the deceased Russian opposition Alexei Navalny, Leonid Volkov.
As you know, on February 16, the Russian authorities announced that Navalny died suddenly in the VK-3 Polar Wolf in the village of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation.
