The EU should introduce tariffs on certain types of imports of Russian and Belarusian agricultural products.
EU leaders have instructed the European Commission to approve strict import duties on agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus. This was stated at the end of the European Council summit.
The European Council called on the EU Council and the European Commission to adopt the amendments as soon as possible.
“Introduce additional tariffs on certain imports into the European Union of Russian and Belarusian agricultural products, taking into account the impact on the Single Market and ensuring that the transfer of such goods to developing countries is not affected,” the conclusions say.
We remind you that the European Union is preparing to introduce duties on grain imports from Russia and Belarus to ensure farmers and some member countries.
As is known, the Czech Republic previously proposed at a meeting of the European Council to ban the import of Russian and Belarusian grain to the European Union.
Let’s remember that some EU countries have introduced restrictions on agricultural products from the aggressor country and its main “partner”. In particular, Poland adopted a resolution on sanctions on agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus. Before this, Latvia banned the import of agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
