The aggressor country illegally imprisoned for two years a citizen of Ukraine who was kidnapped by the invaders in Kherson.
Kherson activist Irina Gorobtsova, after two years of illegal imprisonment in Russia, was accused of allegedly “engaging in espionage.” The ZMINA Human Rights Center reported this on its Facebook page on Thursday, April 18.
“In 2022, Gorobtsova became known for her patriotic posts on social networks about life under occupation, she did not evacuate from Kherson and helped fellow citizens who could not leave the occupied territories,” said message.
The Russians kidnapped Gorobtsova on her birthday, took her equipment and took her to the Simferopol pre-trial detention center No. 2 in the Crimea.
The activist’s lawyer noted that the Ukrainian hostage was kept completely isolated from the outside world.
The Russians began criminal proceedings against the woman under the espionage article.
Earlier, the UN reported that the Russians had executed more than 30 prisoners of war over the winter.
