European countries should make more efforts to provide weapons to Ukraine, said the President of the European Council.
The European Union must find ways to quickly send weapons to Ukraine, because Kyiv needs them now. So the supply of weapons is not a matter of months, but of the next days and weeks. The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced this on Wednesday, April 17, Ukrinform writes.
“I can assure you that all the participants, all the stakeholders are doing their best and making efforts to speed up this process. In a very short time, we have increased our defense production and industrial capacity. But it is not enough. We must do more, and if possible use what is already there, especially the air defense systems,” said the President of the European Council.
He emphasized that it is important to provide Ukraine with more anti-aircraft systems and ammunition.
He also noted the need to promote the Ukrainian World Formula, especially on the eve of the conference, which will be held in Switzerland in June of this year.
“It is very important for this meeting to involve the international community, with all countries around the world, especially from the Global South, to coordinate points of view, with the participation of the EU in this meeting in Switzerland. We are fully determined to support Ukraine. We do not underestimate the challenges that exist and we know that we have a responsibility to act,” said the President of the European Council.
Earlier, Charles Michel said the European Union should put the bloc’s economy on a “war footing.”
