The Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine is not a one-time project, Petr Fiala assured.
The Czech Republic may buy 500 thousand shells as part of an initiative to supply ammunition to the Ukrainian army. The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, said this, Ukrinform reported on Wednesday, April 17.
According to him, about 20 countries have already allocated money – from Canada to Poland.
“Thanks to them, we can now buy 500,000 artillery ammunition. We believe there will be more deliveries. There is no reason why we cannot deliver another million in the next 12 months,” he said.
Fiala assured that the Czech initiative on ammunition for Ukraine is not a one-time project.
“Our goal is to create a long-term supply chain for heavy weapons. This will directly help change the situation on the front line. Western countries must once again have sufficient capacity in the defense industry. We must accept the fact that a more responsible security policy also involves a significant increase in the number of weapons,” he added.
The day before it became known that the Czech Republic had signed contracts for the first 180,000 shells for Ukraine. Now Prague is working to get another 300 thousand shells.
