On the eve of the NATO summit in Estonia, they said a Russian helicopter had violated its airspace for the first time. Also, the military of the Russian Federation mimics missile strikes in the country.
In Estonia, they said a Russian helicopter had crossed the country’s airspace for the first time, and Russian troops, conducting the exercises, were mimicking the daily missile attack on Estonia. This was announced on Tuesday, June 21, by Kusti Salm, a senior representative of the Estonian Ministry of Defense, at a briefing, Sky News reports.
“It’s a picture of the threat. As we see the threat of Russia … It’s never been as serious now,” Salm said.
It was also reported that Estonia summoned the Russian ambassador to Tallinn to protest against the flight path of a border MI-8 helicopter, which, according to the country’s Defense Ministry, entered Estonian airspace on Saturday night two minutes after no permission.
“Crossing the border by helicopter can’t be a mistake – there have been a lot of examples in recent days,” Salm said.
He added that Russia is conducting military exercises that include simulated missile strikes on its Baltic neighbors.
“This is real life. They’re really simulating missile attacks on NATO territory and letting us know they’re doing it,” Salm told reporters.
It will be recalled that the NATO summit will be held in Madrid on June 28-30.
