“If not the government, then us” – under this slogan, Slovak activists are collecting 1 million euros to purchase ammunition for Ukraine.

The funds will be directed to the Czech initiative, within which a million ammunition have already been found.
Officially, the Slovak government refused to participate in the purchase, so public organizations took up the matter.
We will not allow our neighbor to be refused help. We believe that the position of the authorities does not represent the opinion of the majority of citizens. We are convinced that the position of the authorities does not correspond to the majority of citizens. We are confident that we, the residents of Slovakia, want and know how to help. We will prove that Slovakia is not cowardly and is on the right side of history,” they write.
Let us remind you that the Czech Republic, as part of its initiative, found more than a million ammunition for Ukraine. Czech President Petr Pavel announced this on April 13. In February it became known that the Czech Republic had found 800 thousand shells for defense forces outside the EU.
Schizophrenia Fico
Slovakia does not support Ukraine’s entry into NATO. According to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the country will not ratify documents on Ukraine’s admission to the North Atlantic Alliance in parliament.
Slovakia’s interests would be jeopardized if Ukraine became a NATO member, Fico said on April 16.
The prime minister added that his country is “completely satisfied with a neutral Ukraine,” and its North Atlantic integration “will only be in favor of the Third World War.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday, April 11, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, during a press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, said that “we are not the country that will create obstacles for you on your way to the EU.”
On the contrary, we want to help, to share with you our experience regarding accession negotiations.
Fico noted that Slovakia wants to show solidarity with Ukraine in a full-scale war against Russia, because “the use of Russian force in Ukraine is a violation of international agreements. Ukraine needs help and solidarity.”
He also noted that Bratislava will take part in the Global Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland from June 15 to 16.
In addition, Slovakia and Ukraine approved a roadmap for cooperation between the countries.
Before the meeting, the Ukrainian and Slovak delegations were met by demonstrators who booed members of the Slovak government and shouted “Ganba!”
Previously, Fico has repeatedly stated that he respects Ukraine’s decision to join the EU, but added that “this has nothing to do with reality” because Ukraine is “completely not ready”:
It cannot be that a country that does not meet any requirements at all will join the EU, he noted, but promised not to block negotiations.
At the same time, Fico noted that he opposes Ukraine’s entry into NATO.
In his speeches and interviews, the Slovak prime minister constantly used Kremlin narratives regarding Ukrainian neo-Nazis in Donbass.
