Stano noted that “member states are doing everything they can to help Ukraine defend itself,” and this is the third year that this assistance has been provided.
In Luxembourg on April 22, the EU Foreign Affairs Council will discuss arms supplies to Ukraine. This was announced by the official representative of the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, Peter Stano at a briefing in Brussels, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“We are fully aware of the needs of Ukraine and we are trying to meet these needs with all that the member states can provide but, ultimately, it is up to the member states to determine what and when they can send to Ukraine,” Stano said.
According to him, “member states are doing everything they can to help Ukraine defend itself.” Stano noted that this is the third year this assistance has been given, and it is unprecedented.
As noted on the EU Council website, foreign ministers will discuss the situation in Ukraine on April 22 after an informal exchange of views via videoconference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
“The next debate will take place in the presence of the EU Foreign and Defense Ministers in a joint meeting,” the event announcement said.
We remind you that the Czech Republic has already concluded contracts for the purchase of 180 thousand shells for Ukraine. It also plans to contract 300 thousand bullets.
Norway has also reportedly promised new weapons for the Ukrainian F-16s.
