The letter of appeal was signed by 91 legislators. They want to immediately vote on the document, which the United States Senate supported back in February. We are talking about support of $61 billion, which cannot be finalized until October 2023. Congressman Josh Gottheimer published the corresponding letter on his website.
It says Iran attacked US ally Israel over the weekend using hundreds of drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. Given this, Johnson was urged to immediately table the above-mentioned bill.
Congressmen note that this document received 70 votes out of 100 in the Senate. If passed by the House of Representatives, the bill will be sent to Joe Biden for signature on the same day.
Let us remind you that this morning, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said that President Joe Biden and congressmen have reached consensus on a bill to help Ukraine and Israel. Following the conversation, Speaker Mike Johnson said that this week he will again try to submit a relief package to congressmen for consideration.
