Prague is working to get another 300 thousand shells and has already signed contracts for the first 180 thousand.
The Czech Republic has already concluded contracts for the purchase of 180 thousand shells for Ukraine. It also plans to contract 300 thousand bullets. This is what the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala said, reports the Financial Times.
Fiala noted that the situation in Ukraine is critical. One of the reasons is that the Ukrainian defenders are running out of ammunition and are therefore forced to make difficult decisions every day.
“This makes it very difficult for them to hold the front line – the line on which the security and future of all of Europe depends,” added the head of the Czech government.
According to Fiala, the Czech project on projectiles for Ukraine succeeded because of its “deceptive simplicity.”
“We are working to get another 300 thousand shells and have completed contracts for the first 180,000 They will be delivered to the Ukrainian front in the coming months,” said Fiala.
As the Prime Minister mentioned, a total of about 20 countries have joined the initiative.
Earlier it was reported that within the framework of the Czech initiative, Ukraine will be given not 800 thousand bullets, as previously planned, but one million. The Czech Republic itself will allocate tens of millions of euros to supply shells to Ukraine.
