Victoria Garrison is moving to Slovenia with her guide dog, golden retriever Otto.
Britain has appointed its first totally blind ambassador abroad. This is Victoria Garrison, who will lead the British government’s relations with Slovenia. The BBC writes about it.
Harrison will move to Slovenia with his guide dog, golden retriever Otto.
“I am honored to represent the UK as the next Ambassador to Slovenia,” Harrison said after his appointment.
He thanked Guide Dogs for providing him with a second guide dog to accompany him in his new role.
Before starting work in Slovenia in August, Garrison said her disability would help her connect with influential people around the world.
“I might have to take someone’s arm to be directed out of the meeting room. These things create a human connection, which can really help build relationships,” the woman said.
Victoria was born with normal vision, but her vision continued to deteriorate throughout her teenage years. After university, he finally stopped seeing.
In 1997, the woman received a permanent position at the Foreign Office, becoming the first person with a declared disability to work there. He worked in positions abroad in Helsinki and Sarajevo.
Let’s recall that on March 26, President Vladimir Zelensky removed Alexey Danilov from the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. The former secretary of the National Security and Defense Council will become Ukraine’s ambassador to Moldova.
