Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko spoke about this on air at a national telethon, the Ukrinform agency reports.
We have completely changed all response protocols, starting with the type of body armor our rescuers should wear. Because at the beginning of the war and a few months ago, we lost several rescuers because the body armor did not cover the entire torso,” he noted. — It is inconvenient to work in a large body armor, but these are safety issues, matters of life and death.
The minister clarified that the department had revised the instructions on the use of engineering and special equipment.
Klimenko also added that in the State Emergency Service:
- increased the number of rescuers who work at heights – if at the beginning of the year there were 150, now there are already 500;
- are increasing the so-called “fountain” units involved in liquidation of consequences at oil and gas industry facilities.
