For a number of positions, Ukraine is ready to meet its needs through its own production of weapons, said Alexander Kamyshin.
This year, Ukraine has a resource of $6 billion for the purchase of weapons, primarily from domestic manufacturers. The Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin said this, Interfax-Ukraine reported on Sunday, April 14.
“The entire defense budget for 2024 is about $40 billion – of this amount, $30 billion is salaries and fees to military personnel, of the remaining $10 billion, excluding costs for fuels and lubricants and uniform, $6 billion is left for the purchase of weapons. This is the amount we have now in contracts for our manufacturers, especially in Ukraine, and it is very little, because our production capabilities are three times bigger,” said the minister.
Kamyshin said that Ukraine is negotiating with foreign partners to purchase products of the Ukrainian military industry at their expense, with the subsequent transfer of this equipment and weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
He claims that for a number of positions, Ukraine is ready to meet its needs through its own production. In 2024 it will be armored vehicles, all kinds of drones and artillery.
Earlier, the media reported that Ukraine has increased the production of Bogdan self-propelled guns, indicating a potential “boom” in domestic production of weapons.
It was also claimed that Ukrainian enterprises tripled the production of armored vehicles and quadrupled the production of anti-tank missiles.
