A tram hit a crowd of pedestrians on Vasilievsky Island near the Primorskaya metro station on Russian St. Petersburg. The cause of the incident was a brake failure during run-in. The local Telegram channel Mash sa Moika reported this on Friday, April 12.
“Three people had to be extricated from under the train. A 45-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition. Two men, 22 and 42 years old, were also taken to the Mariinsky Hospital. There was a traffic jam at the scene of the accident; partially the train blocked traffic.”
The tram was empty at the time of the accident. Dovlatov rolling stock is designed specifically for St. Petersburg in retro style.
