The President of Poland noted that all the countries of Trimorye are in favor of giving Ukraine the official status of a candidate for the EU.
The countries participating in the Three Seas Initiative have created a new format of partnership and have given Ukraine the status of a participating partner. This was announced by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, at the summit of the Trimorje countries, reports TVN 24.
“We decided to create a special new kind of partnership with the Three Seas Initiative – in addition to the strategic partnership – partnership through participation. This is a new kind of partnership not only for Ukraine. We have given it to Ukraine today, but we proceed from the fact that the same partnership can also divide those countries that are in Central Europe and not members of the European Union, but strive to join it, ”Duda said.
The President of Poland noted that countries advancing on the path of joining the EU can apply for such a partnership format, and stressed that all countries in Trimorye are in favor of giving Ukraine the official status of a EU candidate.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who was invited to take part in the Trimorie summit via video link, said that Ukraine should be a full member of the Three Seas Initiative.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said he did not consider the Three Seas Initiative possible without an independent Ukraine.
Earlier, Zelensky said that Ukrainians have been waiting for the most important week since 1991 – the European Council will decide on Ukraine’s candidacy for membership in the European Union.
