At the beginning of the war, the authorities removed duties and added taxes on imported goods, and now they decided to return them.
At a meeting on Tuesday, June 21, the Verkhovan Rada voted for the return of duties and VAT on goods imported into the country canceled due to the war. According to the people’s representative Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the decision was supported by 234 deputies.
The decision includes the return of duties on vehicles imported into Ukraine and will take effect on July 1.
The law changes taxation:
-
for goods imported by the sole taxpayer of the first, second and third groups;
-
for businesses that do not pay import duties;
-
for vehicles imported by citizens;
At the same time, cars exclusively equipped with electric motors (one or more) do not pay a fee to the Pension Fund.
It should be noted that from April 9 to June 14, 163 thousand cars were brought to Ukraine. The total amount of benefits provided is UAH 17.8 billion.
Recall that in early April, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law excluding the payment of import duties, VAT and excise tax for the import of vehicles into Ukraine.
After the start of the war, customs revenues dropped to 20%, and tax revenues to 50%. The budget is mainly full of loans and bonds.
