European armies have 100 Patriot batteries and still cannot provide seven of them to Ukraine.
The European Union should immediately provide Ukraine with more air defense and ammunition. This was stated by EU High Representative Josep Borrell, speaking at the European Nueva Economia Forum.
He said he spoke with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba a few days ago, and the Foreign Minister immediately asked for seven Patriot batteries to protect his country.
“It can’t be a convincing argument that we can’t give them, because European armies have about 100 Patriot batteries. And we still can’t give them the seven they desperately want,” Borrell said. .
The EU High Representative noted that Europe should pay more attention not only to the upcoming restoration of Ukraine, but also to how to prevent its destruction now.
“The Ukrainians don’t have the capabilities to avoid destruction because, frankly, we need to do more and faster to get them the capabilities they need,” Borrell said.
Let’s remember that President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Western Patriot air defense system should now be in Ukraine, so that they do not need to be used in the entire eastern part of NATO.
According to the president, Ukraine needs to have 25 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems or their equivalents to fully protect its airspace.
