A law enforcement officer in the Kirovograd region was detained for demanding a bribe to close criminal proceedings. The State Bureau of Investigation reported this on April 10.
It will be noted that the law enforcer demanded money from a defendant in the case of theft of irrigation systems in farmers’ fields. For 120 thousand UAH, he promised not to continue the case, and in case of non-payment, he threatened the man with a real term in prison. Also, for this amount, he promised to return to the defendant the excavator seized as part of the criminal investigation.
SBI detained the officer while accepting the money.
He was informed of the suspicion of receiving illegal benefits and a preventive measure was chosen. The detainee faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
