President Vladimir Zelensky said that if US presidential candidate Donald Trump’s peace plan to end the war in Ukraine consists only of transferring part of the Ukrainian territories to Russia, then it is a very primitive idea. Zelensky’s words on Tuesday, April 9, were quoted by the German publication Bild.
“If the point is that we will just give up our territories, and if this is the idea, then this idea is very primitive,” Zelensky said.
According to him, if Trump really has his own strategy to end the war as soon as possible, he will be happy to listen to his idea.
“We need compelling arguments. We don’t need an incredible idea, but a real one. We’re talking about human life, we can’t joke and we can’t take risks,” added the head of state.
Zelensky also recalled that when discussing negotiations with the Russian Federation, it is important to remember that Vladimir Putin cannot be trusted.
“We are dealing with Putin. Everything he said before, he did differently later. We cannot trust him,” stressed the head of state.
Let’s recall that The Washington Post recently reported that according to Trump’s plan, to end Russia’s war with Ukraine “within 24 hours,” Kyiv must hand over the occupied Crimea and Donbass to the aggressor country.
However, Trump called this news fake. They noted that Trump will not accept any peace plan until he is in office and can properly weigh all options.
