There are no changes in the schedule for Ukraine’s accession to NATO – the country will be able to make a future in the Alliance only after the end of the war.
Ukraine can join NATO only after the war started by Russia. At the same time, it is a “moving process”. This is what US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller said.
Asked if there had been a discussion about the timetable for Ukraine’s entry into NATO following Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s recent statement about Ukraine’s future in the alliance, Miller replied: “Nothing has changed in terms of approving the timetable. It still depends this at the end of the war.”
“Ultimately, this is a process that will move forward after this conflict,” the US State Department spokesperson added.
At the same time, he clarified that Washington has expressed its position on this issue, and it remains unchanged.
In addition, Miller recalled that Ukraine was discussed at the last NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels last week. The issues were also discussed in a meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
Let’s remember that the previous NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine may eventually have to make compromises with Russia. But Ukraine itself must decide which.
