Almost 57.41% of the residents of the Polish capital who came to the election voted for the current head of the city.
The current mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, who is running for re-election, won the first round of the election with 57.41% of the votes. This is confirmed by official data from the National Election Commission of Poland.
He is one of the most important politicians in Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s party Civic platformwon the first round with 444,006 votes.
Tobias Bochenski from the opposition party Law and Justice placed second with 178,652 votes (23.10%). In third place is Magdalena Bejat (party Left) – 99,442 votes (12.86%). Other candidates received less than 5% of the vote.
Trzaskowski has been the mayor of Warsaw since 2018. During the previous elections, he also won in the first round – 505,187 votes (56.67%).
The turnout in local government elections in Poland on April 7 was 51.5%.
As we have already written, in the local elections in Poland, according to the exit poll, the national conservative party Law and Justice won, which led the country for 8 years until October 2023, and is now in opposition.
