About 2% of Russian doctors and medical workers left the Russian Federation to avoid conscription.
Russian authorities are trying to compensate for the lack of medical workers with workers from African countries, without confirming their qualifications. About that reported press service of the British Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data.
The other day, the head of the State Duma of the Russian Federation said that the country lacks 30 thousand doctors, and in district hospitals the shortage is about 50%. The lack of medical personnel is explained by the fact that some doctors work in the private sector, while others have left the country.
About 2% of Russian doctors and medical workers left Russia to avoid conscription. According to an assessment conducted in January 2024, over the past 15 months the number of doctors has decreased by 7.5 thousand people.
“According to the Center for European Policy Analysis, to solve the problem of the lack of doctors, Russia took them from African countries without confirming their qualifications, except for a declaration of their own qualifications,” said the British intelligence.
The British Ministry of Defense believes that the number of medical workers in Russia will continue to decrease throughout 2024. Attracting medical personnel from outside with limited qualification testing can lead to a deterioration in the quality of care medical.
Let’s remember that Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Russian economy “number one” in Europe. According to him, in terms of purchasing power parity, Russians are ahead of all of Europe, but “per capita we still have to try.”
