The mayor of the town of Avalon (France) was taken into custody. BFMTV reported it.
It is known that on April 7, the police visited the house of the head of the town of Avalon in Burgundy, Jamila Absawi, where they found about 70 kilograms of cannabis.
The mayor and his two brothers were detained. One of them has come to the attention of law enforcement because of possible involvement in drug trafficking, and this is the main reason for the search.
It is known that cannabis was found in the annex of the mayor’s house. Searches were also conducted at a pharmacy and the city hall. According to unofficial information, as a result of all the searches, almost a kilo of cocaine, 7,000 euros in cash and 20 gold bars were seized.
The investigation is trying to determine if Absawi knew that the drugs were stored in his yard.
It was previously reported that in France anti-drug raids are being conducted in six cities. The raids resulted in the arrest of 867 people. A large number of weapons and financial assets were also seized.
