The enemy is no longer carrying out massive shelling, but is focusing on attacks with high-precision missiles. During March 22-29, the enemy attacked seven thermal power plants, as well as two hydroelectric power plants in less protected regions than Kyiv. Some of them may not be able to be restored until next winter. This was reported by the Financial Times.
DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said that the company’s main goal is to restore as much as possible before October. The group lost about 80% of its production as a result of the strikes, and five thermal power plants were forced to shut down. There is already a plan to restore about half of the damaged power units. This can be done if no new attacks follow.
If previously the Russians attacked electrical substations and transformers throughout the country, now they are attacking power plants in certain regions in order to destroy them completely.
And the head of the Ukrenergo communications department, Maria Tsaturyan, noted that the occupiers are using the same number of missiles against five or six energy facilities in one region that were used during massive attacks in 2022-2023.
Russia also began using expensive high-precision ballistic missiles to attack these targets. And the enemy sends a number of UAVs to destroy transformers.
Let us remind you that in Kharkov, the restoration of CHPP-5 will take more than one year, because this energy facility has lost the main capacity to generate thermal and electrical energy for Kharkov. Now the city’s food comes from other regions.
