A date for the summit should be agreed upon in the coming days. After that, invitations will begin to be sent to world leaders.
At the first inaugural peace summit in Switzerland, the Ukrainian side expects the presence of approximately 100 countries. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview broadcast on a telethon on Saturday, April 6.
We expect to have 80-100 countries worldwide. We believe this will be the most powerful summit ever. Peace Summit. Yes, it is inaugural. But this is a very important summit where we will see partners. And where we will develop a map of additional steps after the end of the war, “said the head of state.
According to Zelensky, the date of the summit should be agreed in the coming days with Switzerland. After that, invitations will begin to be sent to world leaders in various formats.
The President noted that only through joint efforts can the world stop Russian aggression. Countries from all continents are expected at the summit.
Zelensky also explained that in Ukraine, Turkey alone is not enough as a mediator in relations with Russia.
“They (Turkey – ed.) want to be a mediator. And President Erdogan knows: I thank him for everything. But he should know: Only Turkey as a mediator is not enough for us. For us, the format of the Peace Summit is the best,” he said.
The president believes that more countries “will be able to try to force Russia into a just world.”
In the past, the Office of the President ruled out Russia’s participation in the first Peace Summit, but there is a possibility that its representatives will be at the second summit.
