The President told the congressmen about the situation on the front line, the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the scale of the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with the delegation of the American Congress. He announced this on Telegram on Saturday, April 6.
“I met with the delegation of the US Congress – both parties, both houses of Congress are represented. It is important what is happening in Ukraine, in our regions, which were shot by Russian terrorists and survived the Russian occupation. I met with congressman yesterday in the Chernihiv region,” the president wrote.
Zelensky told the congressmen about the situation on the front line, the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the scale of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
“I emphasized that it is very important for the US Congress to make an early decision on additional support for our state, on an appropriate package for protection from Russian terrorism and for our additional proactive actions. It is something that will definitely strengthen Ukraine and life in general,” the head of state added.
The Office of the President clarified that the Congressional delegation includes Republican Senator Johnny Ernst, Democratic members of the House of Representatives Wiley Nickel, Tom Svozzi, Michael Quigley and Republican Ashley Ginson and Chuck Edwards.
Earlier, the media reported that the US Congress has again postponed the vote on the Ukraine aid bill. The House is unlikely to discuss the issue until mid-April, and possibly later.
