Lithuania transfers M577 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense of the Baltic country announced this on Saturday, April 6.
The department did not indicate the exact number of armored vehicles transferred. But it is noted that continued support for Ukraine is a strategic goal of Lithuania.
“The weapons and equipment that we and our allies provide make a decisive contribution to Ukraine’s fight for independence and the security of Europe as a whole. We will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary,” the statement said.
It is indicated that Lithuania has already developed a long-term plan to support Ukraine, providing a military aid package to Kyiv in the amount of 200 million euros for new purchases in the period 2024-2026.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military aid of approximately 605 million euros.
The day before it became known that Lithuania planned to buy about 3 thousand locally produced FPV drones for transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Lithuania will also begin the rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel and allocate 15 million euros for this purpose.
In Vilnius they said goodbye to the first Lithuanian volunteer who died for Ukraine
