The Chisinau court established the extremist nature of the flag with three horizontal black, yellow and white lines.
In Moldova, the black-yellow-white tricolor – the flag of imperial Russia – is recognized as extremist. NewsMaker reported this on Friday, April 5.
The corresponding decision was made by the Chisinau court, taking into account the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Justice and the Information and Security Service.
The court ruled that the flag with three horizontal black, yellow and white lines was extremist. The decision can be challenged in the Chisinau Court of Appeal within a month.
The black, yellow and white flag was the official flag of the Russian Empire from 1858 to 1896. Today it is actively used by Russian nationalists, monarchists and patriotic organizations.
In April 2022, a ban on the use of symbols of military aggression came into force in Moldova. Their use in public is considered extremist activity and punishable by fines. However, the law does not specify exactly what symbols we are talking about. Only the two-color black and orange (St. George) ribbons are directly named. In all other cases, the police will decide for themselves whether it is an extremist symbol.
We remind you that in the Czech Republic, the police are investigating an incident with a man walking along the street of the city of Pardubice wearing a hoodie with the symbol of the Russian invasion – the letter Z. Previously, in Germany, a the man was ordered to donate to the Ukrainians for wearing the ZT-shirt.
