The ban on visits to the Houses of Parliament in Westminster for Russian ambassadors and diplomats has officially been lifted.
Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin and his colleagues from the Russian Federation have been banned by British authorities from attending parliament. On Monday, June 20, the British edition of the Guardian was written, referring to the statement of the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
It was clarified that Russian diplomats from now on can only enter the building after receiving a special order.
“As the officially recognized representative of the Russian government, the ambassador will not be admitted to parliamentary residence until further notice,” the publication quoted a message to British parliamentarians.
The message was accompanied by a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to 265 representatives and 154 colleagues who were recently banned by Moscow from entering Russia. They were advised to refrain from traveling to areas under Russia’s “control or influence,” including Belarus, Transnistria, occupied Crimea, territories along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and occupied the Donbas.
According to the publication, this ban was not officially placed after the start of a full -scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, but now its existence has been confirmed in writing for the first time.
It was previously reported that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes it is important for London to continue to support Kyiv in the long run.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada has ratified the Agreement on the elimination of import duties and tariff quotas on bilateral trade between Ukraine and the UK.
