They tried to kill the governor of the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation, Andrei Chibis, in the city of Apatity – he was stabbed in the stomach with a knife in the cultural center after a meeting with citizens. This was reported by Russian public pages and media.
An armed man reportedly attacked the officer at around 22:20 local time near the Stroitel cultural center. He ran out of his Toyota Corolla, jumped the guards and stabbed the politician in the stomach.
The attacker was quickly apprehended by the police and Chibis’ personal security. During his arrest, he was shot in the leg.
The detainee, 42-year-old fitter from Apatity, Alexander B., was prosecuted under several administrative articles in 2018 and 2022, and was also convicted of “causing minor harm to health.”
According to the TG channel Mash, during the interrogation, Alexander said that he decided to kill Andrei Chibis because of personal hatred.
Governor Chibis underwent surgery; the operation was reported as successful.
It was previously reported that the FSB detained a Russian who was “preparing an assassination attempt on the military” in Khabarovsk. A criminal case of high treason was opened against the detainee.
Before this, the Russian FSB announced the “disclosure of a large Ukrainian intelligence network” in Crimea. It was reported that the targets of the agents’ attempts were Sergei Aksenov, a representative of the Crimean Parliament, the mayor of Yalta, the blogger Alexander Talipov, and the former Ukrainian deputy Oleg Tsarev.
