The situation on the battlefield is very difficult. We are seeing pressure from Russian troops at the front. Russia is mobilizing more military personnel, on the one hand. On the other hand, we observe Russia’s readiness to sacrifice people and military equipment. It is very serious. Therefore, we are talking about the urgency of mobilizing support for Ukraine on our part, he emphasized.
In this aspect, the NATO Secretary General sees two scenarios:
- on the one hand, Alliance allies can provide more assistance, and Ukraine will regain most of its territories;
- on the other hand, this cannot happen and there is a risk that Russia will seize more territories of Ukraine. And thus, the situation in Ukraine may become more dangerous.
Stoltenberg stressed that in order to achieve peace in Ukraine, it is necessary to ensure “powerful” armed forces.
We are confident that Ukraine will be able to achieve new successes, so we must act more energetically in order to provide the necessary support and create the entire infrastructure in the long term,” he said.
