President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and President of Finland Alexander Stubb signed an Agreement on Security Cooperation and Long-Term Support. With this document, Finland formalized its readiness to continue to support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, pledged to provide long-term military and financial assistance, as well as deepen cooperation in the political, financial, humanitarian spheres and in the direction of reforms. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian president.
Bankova also noted that Finland will help Ukraine rebuild the energy sector, assess environmental damage, and strengthen the protection of the border and critical infrastructure. In addition, wounded Ukrainian soldiers will be treated in Finnish hospitals.
The agreement also clearly demonstrates Finland’s support for Ukraine’s future membership in the European Union and NATO.
In addition, today Finland announced the allocation of 23 aid packages to Ukraine in the amount of 188 million euros. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive air defense systems and artillery ammunition. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Helsinki has transferred almost 2 billion euros in military aid to Kyiv.
Let us remind you that on March 1, Ukraine signed a bilateral security agreement with the Netherlands. The agreed document provides for 2 billion euros in military assistance from the Netherlands in 2024, as well as subsequent defense assistance over the next 10 years.
