The Office of the Ombudsman reported that the cause of death of most of them was coronary heart disease, but their medical records did not contain records of consultations with a cardiologist,
The Office of the Ombudsman discovered flagrant violations at the Yaryshevsky psychoneurological boarding house in the Vinnytsia region and announced an immediate inspection of the institution. Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets announced this on Monday, April 1.
“I immediately started an inspection of the institution as soon as I received an appeal about the unacceptable situation in the wards. We found the following: there are 151 wards in the boarding school, some of them are in urgent need of sanitary and hygienic care and worn. out clothes; a violation of the rights to decent and safe conditions of stay, some beds with armored mesh,” said the ombudsman.
During the visit, it was found that one of the wards of the institution required immediate hospitalization: he had a significantly enlarged leg, which was painful and almost impossible to walk.
Lubinets emphasized that the lack of proper treatment leads to high mortality in the institution: 27 wards died in less than two years.
Most of the above numbers are reported to have died from coronary heart disease.
“Their medical records do not contain a consultation with a cardiologist or medical tests. As it happened, they were given drugs containing clozapine. However, they were not given mandatory hemolytic control,” added ombudsman.
Representatives of the Ombusman’s Office also found that the wards at the boarding home were never taken to the shelter during an air raid, putting their lives at risk. We remind you that last year a nursing home burned down in the Lviv region, a woman died.
