The attacker turned out to be an employee of a local kindergarten. In her free time, she helped the Russians get to the Defense Forces’ bases in the regional center.
To direct enemy fire, the defendant received geolocation of potential targets from the occupiers, and then carried out additional reconnaissance there.
Being close to the object, she secretly observed it in order to establish an approximate number of personnel and military equipment there.
Then the agent transmitted the information received via messenger to her Russian curator in the form of text messages indicating coordinates on Google maps.
Based on the intelligence “report,” the occupiers were preparing air attacks on the city using missile weapons and Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
Thanks to the prompt response of the SBU, the enemy henchman was exposed at the initial stage of her intelligence activity, and then gradually documented.
Also, comprehensive measures have now been taken to provide bases for the defenders of Kharkov.
Subsequently, SBU officers detained the attacker in her own home.
According to investigators, the woman was remotely recruited by Russian intelligence in the fall of 2023. She came to the attention of the occupiers through an acquaintance from the city of Kupyansk, who, during the capture of the regional center, fled to the Russian Federation and joined the enemy troops.
During searches in the detained house, a mobile phone was seized, which she used to communicate with the aggressor.
Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed her of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law).
The attacker is currently in custody. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
